SUBSCRIBE to Barcroft TV:

A life coach is using the challenges she has faced due to her dwarfism to empower others. Born with a type of dwarfism called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenital (SEDc), Julie Bond Genovese stands at 4ft 3in tall and says her condition has been a ‘mind-blowing and heart-wrenching all-you-can-hurl rollercoaster ride’ and she grew up believing she was ‘cursed.’ The counsellor from Dover, New Jersey, describes the way children with dwarfism are measured, talked about by doctors, and put through surgeries, which creates an inner sense of being a ‘broken person.’ But Julie says that the years of operations, stares, bullies and rejection has made the 53-year-old the strong woman, mother, wife and successful therapist that she is today.

“…are you assuming people will define you by your dwarfism, just ’cause you do?” – I needed that.

I am often too afraid to talk to people because I make assumptions about how people will see and treat me based on how I see myself. In other words, i’m insecure with who I am. Still.

I’m glad that advice (from my sister) spoke to you, too! It’s a challenge to let go of how other people see us and define us ~ but the freedom is well worth the effort 🙂 Onward and upward Thomas!

Really? Cause I’m clinically diagnosed with depression and yet I am also very realistic, overly logical (sometimes too overly logical) and very aware of the different outcomes of different situations. I have been told this by many different people. Depression does not skew reality and it does not prevent people from being able to analyze reality the same way you do. It’s not like I’m wearing depression glasses where you see rainbows I see doom and gloom, that’s not how depression works. How about you just shut up and don’t comment on things you know nothing about.

She is beautiful inside and out! Her voice is so comforting and I love how she listens and look at the people she talks too. I’m not a self-help book kind of person, but I believe she can really help people and it’s admirable 🙂
