How Do I Find a Business Mentor? // VLOG 101

A wise and experienced mentor can be an incredible force for growth and change in your life.

I was lucky enough to be born with an incredible dad, who has been moulding me from a young age to believe in my own power to create success in my life. He continues to give me books and feed my curiosity and knowledge, so that even to this day I can keep expanding my mind and becoming a better entrepreneur.

I’ve also had mentors in my life who have given me more specific guidance in areas of business around which I needed to expand my knowledge, such as Stu McLaren, who taught me to become much better at launching.

I’ve also had friends who I’ve recognised as mentors, such as Michelle Rohr. Michelle and I both prioritise mindset, and I find her ideas and words so resonant. I like to think we’re both continually helping each other to grow, gradually mentoring each other as we go along our business journeys.

Mentors don’t necessarily have to be a person that you literally engage with for specific tutelage. There is this idea of a “mentor figure” who is a specific expert, who will take you on and tell you everything that you need to know in order to create your own success. But, from my own experience, the journey is less linear than that, and knowledge comes from all different places.

Here are some of the key things that I’ve learnt as a mentee in life:

2:20 – Mentors come in all different forms.

2:38 – Look for people who are doing, or have done, the thing you want to be doing.

4:00 – Get intentional; start looking for potential opportunities and people in your areas of interest.

If you are looking to fill your knowledge gaps and grow get out there, and find your mentors all over the place; in books, in speakers, in school teachers, parents and reaching out to experts in your field.

I hope you loved this episode, thanks so much for watching!

My Dad has also been very instrumental in my entrepreneurial journey and I’m SOOOO grateful. I have several others including my business coach and consider you a major influence in my life and hopefully in the not too far future, I’m looking forward to a FEA mastermind!
